I joined the Yaotsu Kokusaikoryukai for the first time in a while. I intend to join the members making Ozen Haman on November 8th.

I love the Sangyosai!!!!
The Yaotsu Sangyosai is on November 10 and 11. Every year there are lots of fun things to do and there are lots of wonderful booths selling local goods.
Soya sauce. Sweets, Yaotsu senbei. Sake……. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

カンボジアの子どもたちに絵本を贈ろう（JAZZ LIVE）
１０月１３日（土）午後２時３０分から八百津町野上にある稲葉城公園管理棟において、カンボジアの子どもたちに絵本を贈るための、チャリティJAZZ LIVEが行われました。
当日参加された方々が絵本を持ち寄り、集まった１６０冊の絵本はボランティアを通じてカンボジアにある孤児施設に送られます。

Witold Pilecki

Above is a link to a Wikipedia page about another war hero. Witold Pilecki was a polish soldier, a key member of the Polish resistance. In 1940 he purposefully allowed himself to be captured by the nazis so he could get inside Auschwitz. His wanted to organize inmate resistance and gather intelligence about the Holocaust. He stayed there until 1943, then escaped. The information he provided was extremely valuable in the war against the nazis. After the war he continued his fight against communist atrocities. In 1947 he was arrested by the communist Polish police and he was executed in 1948.
The Wikipedia article has not yet been translated into Japanese. Would anyone here like to give it a try?

杉原ウィーク２０１２
今年も杉原千畝氏の功績を称え、7月29日～8月5日までの期間に杉原ウィ－ク２０１２を開催しまう。
世界平和を願い行われてきたこの事業は、今年で13回目を迎えます。
テーマ
今年のテーマは去年に引き続き「後世に伝えたい平和の大切さを！」です。
短歌大会
ファミリ－センタ－2階展示場では、杉原千畝氏・人権・世界平和などへの思いを込めて町内を始め、全国から集まった短歌作品を展示します。
展示は期間中を通して行われます。
また、8月4日午後4時からは、ファミリーセンター講義室にて「選者と話る会」として、選者による作品講評会が開催されます。
星空コンサート
毎年素敵なゲストを迎えて行われる星空コンサート。今年は石野真子さんが出演します。
コンサートは午後6時から、八百津東部中学校3年生による合唱で始まり、町長による開会式、短歌大会表彰式が行われます。その後、午後7時より、オープニングは粥川なつ紀さんのサックスで始まり、石野真子コンサートが始まります。
また、当日は午後5時よりファミリーセンター東側グランドから無料シャトルバスが出ます。人道の丘駐車場は大変混み合いますのでぜひこちらを利用ください。
8月4日は、人道の丘公園での星空の下で、恒久平和を願う素敵なコンサートをお楽しみ下さい。

Sugihara Week Schedule 2012
Sugihara Week 2012: July 29th-August 5th
Yaotsu Town is holding the event “Sugihara Week 2012”, in order to commemorate Sugihara’s deeds. This is the thirteenth year in which this event takes place.
This year theme is to convey the importance of peace to the next generation.
Sugihara week-related events
Tanka (Japanese poem) Competition
In the Family center, second floor, an exhibition of Tanka poems which deal with the story and humanity of Chiune Sugihara, human rights, world peace and much more will be held. These Tanka poems are written by children from all over Japan.
On August 4th, starting at 4pm, in the lecture room (講義室) ,family center, poems evaluation meeting will be held by this year judges.
Starry sky concert: August 4th
The concert will start at 6pm, The Hill of Humanity.
